Miss Jane Addams,
Hull-House
800 South Halsted Street,
Chicago. Ill.

Dear Miss Addams,

I want to see the Progressive Party succeed. I feel it is vastly important, but I do not much feel myself like tying up to any party. I have always felt that the journalist should be free of all political affiliations. Perhaps some time we can talk about it. This is certain, that if I can do anything to help it along I want to do it.

I will try to send you a word about Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation, though I don't just see the time for it. if I had only known a little earlier! But I will do the best I can.

Faithfully yours,

Ida M. Tarbell [signed]
