Margaret Smith Hoblitt to Jane Addams, April 9, 1904

REEL0004_0799.jpg

My dear Miss Addams,--

The lines which I include have been a long time haunting me and begging to be finished--waiting for the touch which has somehow come with the thought of you. You will not think that an overwhelming compliment, to be sure. [page 2] But, poor as they are, they will be worth something to me if they only help to tell you convincingly that twice is none too many times to listen to anything you have to say.

Most truly yours,

Margaret Hoblitt

God veils from us afar His own bright face,

Lest, seeing, we crave Heaven and Him o'ermuch;

But sends to us His children: Thine their grace

Of winged word and tender, healing touch.
