THE CLOISTER
ALTADENA, CALIFORNIA

My dear Miss Addams.

It was splendid of you to send me your latest book. I am so proud to have it & always enjoy anything & everything you have to say. I have been thrilled so many times lately at hearing your name mentioned [page 2] just to feel that I know you. The foremost woman not only in our country, but of any. Isn't it splendid to have lived & achieved such a name for oneself, & all [through] your own efforts. But this is an old story to you. & perhaps I should not have mentioned it, but I have.

We have enjoyed having Dr. & Mrs. Britton [page 3] with us & I think they enjoyed their visit.

They really want to come back. I took them over to see Dana Bartlett & his work, who also mentioned you the other day when he threw Hull House on a screen at the Ebell Club.

Well, Miss Addams, with many, many thanks.

Most sincerely,

Kate C. Gartz.
