July 23, 1925.
My Dear Miss Addams:
I am very sorry that the financial reports for May and for June have not been mailed to you before, but I enclose them herewith.
The latter part of June we published the summer appeal and have been getting back responses during July, though so far there have been only 24 new contributors. Some of those whose contributions had lapsed, have renewed, and many of the regular July contributors have sent in their subscriptions. If we can secure more new contributions, we should try, for it is inevitable that some of the former contributors will drop off for one reason or another.
You have all received father's report on camp. The second group of children went out last Monday. You will be interested to know that some of our older boys who were not working have done much of the work preparatory to the opening of camp, and have helped make all the tables and benches of the new dining room, in addition to considerable cleaning up, painting and repair work. They felled a good sized tree, stripped it, brought it some distance up to the camp site, and erected it in front of the dining room as a flag pole. They put in long days of real hard work with mighty good spirit, and received only their keep and transportation.
If any of you can visit camp and will let me know, I will arrange to go out with you if you wish.
In town, our vacation school is running four mornings a week for five weeks. The playground is open daily. The nursery, library, street games, English classes, neighborhood visiting and some club groups are regular weekly activities, and we have had from one to three picnics a week, in addition to arranging country outings for as many families as possible at camps other than our own. We are grateful for some good volunteer help which has helped replace the staff who are at camp or on vacation.
Sincerely yours,
