(By New York Times-Chicago Tribune Special Leased Wire, Copyrighted.)

SHANGHAI, May 12. -- Jane Addams, in an address here yesterday on child labor which is a vital topic in Shanghai because of the thousands of Chinese children employed in local factories, declared that no great industry could successfully rest upon the shoulders of children, whereas if child labor is abolished, great strides forward would be made. She urged that China profit by America's study of child labor. More than 2,000 women of all nationalities heard the famous founder of Hull House.
