My dear Miss Addams:

As you may know, the Episcopal Church is deeply interested in raising funds for our work in Japan. The work of St. Luke's Hospital in Tokyo is especially near my heart and I am venturing to ask if when you can find the time, you will be kind enough to write me your impression of the care [page 2] given you there. I think if I could read your letter at our parish and diocesan missionary meetings (if you have no objection to my doing so), it would bring home to our women, as nothing else could, what St. Luke's means.

You cannot know how greatly I shall appreciate your kindness.
