Dear Miss Addams

The death of President Lincoln in April 1865 is an event burned into my memory and when I read in the April American Magazine page 732 that you were then three and a half years old, I thought that or the other other statement that you were about twelve when Mazzini died, must be a mistake.

I call attention to this, thinking you may care to correct in the Book [illegible] with [illegible] follow -- It was a great pleasure to see you at the Club and to know that you are on guard in the City again. I hope you will be well in future--

Yours with best wishes

Ellen A Martin
