Dear Alice
Mrs Bowen's son who is on his wedding journey has been quite ill and Mrs Bowen went on to N.Y. to see whether or not she should sail and at any rate to help Miss Hemple who did sail. I went down with her for two days, and called at the Three Arts Club the first afternoon. Marcet was off on a tour and as they were just moving I had no opportunity to see Miss Hull -- she was out then and again the next day when I telephoned. [page 2]
Laura's letter are not very encouraging but [illegible] a vacation from the hospital must be a great relief and comfort to Weber. What have you decided to do about coming on to Chicago for an examination, don't you think that it is a sensible thing to do? I will be back next Sunday. Mary Smith, whom I met here last night, is looking better I think. Always, dear Alice, your loving sister
J. A.
Mary sends her love to you.
