Dearest--
The Lady said that you seemed interested in the Cal. invitations so I am sending on the lecture that you may see how nice it really was. While I might have managed the address I am quite too barren of material now for a course of lectures but I need and hope for the future! ↑at the U. of Cal.↓ Please [prepare] the letters. How have you been, please don't overreach, I believe a soggy companion held you down. The proof comes daily and most of it reads very well.
Always yrs J. A.
