My dear Miss Addams,

Mr. Dean and I wanted you to know what joy it gave us to learn that you had escaped the disaster in [Tokyo] [page 2] and were safe in San Francisco. Reports of your convalescence too reached us and we trust that you are enjoying perfect health once more. Our summer was passed in Nova Scotia [page 3] a charming country. We missed our dear Hull's Cove cottage but we are glad our tenants have enjoyed it and found much interest in the garden. We love to recall the delightful times when you were a neighbor and trust some day we [page 4] may all meet their again. We both send you our warm regards and the hope that you will have a restful winter.

Sincerely yours,

Elizabeth M. Dean
