My dear Aunt Jane:

In our last nights paper -- there was a little article saying you arrived in Chicago on Sunday.

It certainly seems very nice to have you safe and sound at Hull-House again -- especially after all [page 2] the terrible things that happened in Japan.

I wonder if you ever received a couple of letters -- I wrote -- one sent to the China address -- and one to the hospital in Tokyo. We had hoped you and Miss Smith might come this way [page 3] from California.

We are still having summer after a rainy week a short time ago -- everything has turned wonderful green again -- and the iris are blooming and the mockingbirds fairly tweeting their little [thanks?].

Ernest is well and very busy -- and only have a day or two at a time. Next week the clubs all begin their winter's work -- and I shall be busier than I have been.

We wish we could hear of your trip. With love from us both. Always your loving niece -- Sarah.
