CHICAGO, Jan. 22. -- Miss Jane Addams today said she felt certain that the young woman held at Atlanta, Ga., was not the missing Jeanne [DeKay], but “an adventuress,” who was in Chicago, Jan. 5.

“She called me up and said she could show me where Jeanne was,” said Miss Addams. “An appointment was made and kept by Mrs. Gertrude Howe Britton and John [DeKay], Jeanne’s brother. A few minutes’ talk convinced both she was an adventuress seeking notoriety.”
