Dearest
I have been working on The American articles all morning and have finally sent the last three together, both that they may arrange the illustrations more easily and that I may get them off my mind. The lectures are going on pretty well [although] they make me surprisingly tired.
I was so happy to have your letter yesterday -- it sounded fairly well altogether and certainly the sleeping ↑record↓ was fine! [page 2]
I am quite hurt in my feelings that you think I cannot endure hardships as well as you. Just try me and see! I quite long for the little fine rooms. Please give my love to Eleanor and my cordial greetings to the [Strans?] & [Hamills].
Always, Dearest, devotedly yours J. A.
