Dear Miss Addams,
This envelope is waiting since we read the first newspaper-notice about your operation; we got it in the beginning of July and went around to Mrs. Nitobe -- who told us the hospital was an excellent one -- to the American consul -- who was not able to advise us, and wanted to cable and thought you may have left the hospital, and were kept in an awful tension.
Then your kind letter written on the way from Peking to Mukden came and I wanted to answer and my pen would not write. [page 2]
And now -- [lucky] creature, just the day before I have to leave for a vacation -- I get Miss Smith's dear letter, by which she has obliged us all so very, very much, finishing it up by the very [favorable] opinion of your doctor!
It is an [indescribable] relief for me, and will make my holiday so very much more enjoyable! -- I go home for the four weeks before the Executive Meeting, in order to be up to my task there. You will see by the program that very important matters have to be discussed.
Frl. Wössner is here for her University holiday and being so very well informed of all our office-matters, she and Mlle. Gobat will take care of all our business. I enclose Mlle. Gobat's letter and wishing you a quick and full recovery to perfect health and thanking Miss Smith very much for her kindness, I am yours very faithfully Vilma Glücklich
