19 WALTON PLACE.
Dear Alice
The Juvenile Protective League have looked into the report of leprosy at [Fields] and were utterly unable to run it down -- they thought the whole thing had been made up -- I will have the report copied and sent you, but the investigator was a very clever woman and not easily taken in -- the rumor of it has been in town all winter. [page 2] I am returning Mrs Dodge's letter with regret that I can suggest no one. [Carnegie] is unique and ↑for↓ there are few rich people willing to send money to small places with which they have no personal connection. I am so glad that you are going to change your household arrangements -- [although] the new family sounds rather large for the space. I am back and forth at Hull-House but have not yet settled down there. [page 3] I hope to go to Cedarville very soon. When are you coming in? Mary Smith joins me in sending her best love.
Always your affectionate sister Jane Addams
