A note by Jane Addams on page 3 reads: A compound containing various houses occupied by the family -- [illegible] of [palace] -- mother -- also temple & chapel back -- told of their [power?] had rooms kept as shrines. The dowager [Maharani] of Cooch Behar [is] a daughter who rec'd me -- tea [etc.]

Gave me two books of hers, [anthologies] and Tales of Indian Women, set of [illegible] books like old fashioned [illegible] doctrine, [etc.] Mrs Mahalanobis is a very charming person took me to the party [illegible]
