Dear Jane Addams!

We are all very concerned about Ms. Baer. Apart from a postal card she wrote on the ship, she has not been heard from again. German newspapers brought the news [that] she was arrested; what is [illegible] true? Ms. Baer is not in very good health and despite her youth is very nervous. We are convinced [that] our American colleagues will take care of her, but I ask you to make sure [that] we receive news of the truth about the rumors that are being spread in Europe about her arrest.

Hoping [that] you are in good health, I send you warm regards from Anita Augspurg and me.

Yours

Lida Gustava Heymann. [signed]
