Biographical Text

Frederick Starr was an anthropologist and professor at the University of Chicago, where he served as the head of the department of Anthropology for twenty one years. He attended the University of Rochester and received his doctorate from Lafayette College. Starr then worked as a curator of geology at the American Museum of Natural History, where he developed an interest in anthropology. Starr conducted field work in several places around the world, including Mexico, Africa and East Asia.

Starr died in 1933.
