My dear Mrs Mead

I haven't been invited to speak to the Council of Women and am afraid that in no case could I go to Boston in November. I am speaking on Disarmament a lot but only take places very near Chicago as Hull-House seems to need pulling up [this fall] after my long absence.

Miss Kittredge writes that the Washington plans must depend upon Mrs Odell, so I have written her today and hope that she will write you to come. I want it very much as you know and would supply the car fare so that the national funds would not be [illegible] for it. I think that it is a [page 2] wonderful opportunity.

Of course you are the person to speak at the Council of Women and will do it better than anyone else.

Hastily but always devotedly yours

Jane Addams.
