Albion W. Small to Jane Addams, March 19, 1908

My dear Miss Addams --

I sent the letter of which copy is enclosed by special delivery to the Tribune within two hours after I had seen the Harlan story last Saturday. It must have reached the office before noon of that day. I added a request that it be published. Of course that is not the Tribune's present line of business. I would like to be counted, however, not merely with those who believe justice is right, but -- to put it on a lower level, with those who see that injustice is a villainously imprudent instrument. I don't believe the sober second thought of Chicago will permanently endorse the present preposterous attitude of confounding things that boys of twelve should be able to discriminate.

Sincerely
Albion W. Small
