My dear Miss Blackwell

I am still a little bewildered about the India situation, largely due to Mr Das, I imagine, and I think that on the whole I would rather go into it a little further before I join the committee.

As you may imagine I am devoted to [page 2] Gandhi and sorry to refuse anything in his name, but the Irish Commission took so much time and real study that I shrink a little about going into another such "cause" until I am quite sure.

I am lecturing in Boston next winter, perhaps I can see you then when I will be clearer in my mind about it. Miss Sheepshanks enjoyed seeing you the other day. She is a delightful guest. Aff yrs Jane Addams
