3rd August, 1920.
My dear Miss Jane Addams,
I thank you for sending on my memorandum to the League of Free Nations Association. I have had replies from one or two people in reference to it. Theodore Marburg seems generally in agreement. Hamilton Holt also seemed favorable. But President [Eliot] was very much against raising questions as to the Constitution of the League.
I am glad you will be seeing Mrs. Barnett shortly. I have given her your message.
My daughter has just married Curtice Hitchcock, who is assisting Professor Marshall at the University of Chicago. They expect to return to Chicago at the end of September. I hope my daughter will then see you. We shall now have a very strong inducement to visit America again. We are very pleased with her choice although [page 2] naturally we would have preferred it if she could have settled somewhere nearer to us.
With kindest regards,
Yours sincerely,
