My dear Mr. Kennedy:

I am enclosing a copy of a letter which has just come from The Pond Lyceum Bureau. It is much less encouraging than Mr. Pond's former letters have been and I find it quite discouraging. Upon receiving it, I sent Mrs. Barnett the following cable: "Deeply regret Pond still indefinite -- Promises certainty next week -- So much the best man, advise waiting". If you have any suggestions to make I should be very grateful for them. At least the settlement arrangements are going very well if the Housing isn't.

Hastily yours,

Jane Addams [signed]
