My dear Mrs Hull

Thank you so much for the two messages. It was impossible for me to leave New York in time for the Friday appointment in Washington, [although] if you think well of it, I will try to come back ↑to the east &↓ to Washington within the next ten days or two weeks.

As soon as I get home may I write you my possible dates and if you can make the appointment with Mr Palmer, I will come on. [page 2] It seems to me awfully important that he should understand that he is destroying the ideal of the U.S.A. in the minds of thousands of immigrants and their children. Perhaps I could come in to Philadelphia and go down to Washington with you or meet you there. I am writing this hurriedly but am always devotedly yours
