Biographical Text

Ellen Martin Henrotin was active in social reform movements, such as labor and suffrage. She was the second president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, which helped unite the numerous women's clubs into a national - and later, international - movement. She was voted to be one of the first ten "best women of Chicago." During the World's Fair prior to 1894, Henrotin was the president of the women's branch of the World's Congress Auxiliary.

Henrotin married Charles Henrotin in 1869. Henrotin died in 1921.
