My Dear Miss Culver

The bushel of apples for Christmas came today -- the thirtieth time I think, for I remember them distinctly at our very first Christmas in this dear house.

May I also thank you for the check which Mr. Ewing sent last week. We are ending our year out of debt in spite of the horrible price of coal which outdid all the other high costs of living, and are very grateful. [page 2]

I am so glad you are away from this stormy weather, and I hope all kinds of pleasant days for you in Florida.

With love to Mrs Peck and to you, I am always

affectionately yours,

Jane Addams

P.S.

The Boys Club is going so well with Mr Riddle, it is a great satisfaction, I think we have never had so many men and boys coming to the House.
