Dear Miss Addams:
Early in the week I sent you a letter from an employer -- illustrating a segment of the industrial field which is rich in promise, if the Survey can continue to build up its industrial department constructively and sure-footedly.
For this I am sending you copies of letters Colonel Rice, commandant of the Fort Leavenworth Dispensary Barracks, in regard to Mr. Lane's remarkable story of the prison's strike and its significance which we published on February 15. A second letter is from an inmate. The Literary Digest has republished the article practically entire. Several newspapers have quoted extensively. A St. Louis paper wired for it. The New York Tribune syndicated it.
