Miss Jane Addams

Chicago, Ill.

Dear Miss Addams:

I am very eager to see you, on getting back to the United States. Miss Wald tells me that you are leaving for California -- but how soon?

The British Labor movement gave me more encouragement and faith in the coherent power of the workers than anything else I came in touch with. I am enclosing proof of the first of some rather sketchy articles I am writing on it for the Survey -- and also a copy of a very remarkable review of the "secret treaties" by Brailsford, from the British Labor Herald.

Sincerely,
