Biographical Text

Michelangelo was an Italian sculptor, poet, and architect who lived during the High Renaissance and had a great influence on Western art. Some of his most well-known works include the sculptures Pietà and David, the scenes from Genesis on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, and the Laurentian Library. He also wrote many poems that were homosexual in nature. His art style led to the Mannerism art movement.

Michelangelo died in 1564.
