July 2nd, 1917
My dear Mrs. McCormick:
In 1915, the year of our crisis in non-employment, you kindly gave Hull-House a thousand dollars to help out in the unusual conditions.
I am therefore venturing to write you now because we are again faced by unusual conditions produced by the war. We would be very grateful indeed if you felt that you could send us any help in this crisis.
If you drive out from Lake Forest it would be delightful to have you stop some time at our Country Club north of Waukegan on the Sheridan Road. I am sure you would enjoy seeing the children there and the agricultural work they are doing.
