Description

Alta House was established in Cleveland, first as a day nursery for women in the Italian immigrant neighborhood. Early leaders Louise Rawson and Joseph Carabelli secured support from John D. Rockefeller to build a settlement building which opened in 1898. Alta House provided educational opportunities and programs for the elderly.
