My dear Mr. Middleton: --

I am almost on the point of leaving Chicago to fill a series of speaking engagements in the east, and shall not be back in Chicago until the 15th of the month so that it will be impossible for me to avail myself of your kind invitation.

I hope very much to have the pleasure of seeing you the next time you are in Chicago, and that we may then have one of your readings at Hull-House.
