Jane Addams to Hattie L. Hecht Sloss, July 23, 1915

July 23, 1915

My dear Mrs. Sloss: --

I have just reached Chicago having been detained in Europe, as you may know, much longer than I had anticipated.

I am writing you, as I promised, immediately upon my return, and [should be] very glad if you would let me have a frank reply as to the most convenient time for me to come to the Exposition as the guest of your Committee. Would you prefer the very last week of August, the first week in September or the second?

My plans are a little uncertain at the moment and I could decide much more quickly if I know your preference in the matter.

Thanking you for your long patience in the matter, I am

Sincerely yours,

[Jane Addams] [signed]

Mrs. M. C. Sloss
San Francisco, California.
